As part of the Export Initiative Environmental Protection, GIZ is working on behalf of the BMUV to help the Jordanian government introduce a nationwide extended producer responsibility (EPR) system. The aim here is to utilise legal frameworks and pilot measures to reduce landfill sites in the desert while protecting the environment.

Speakers in the video include H.E. Dr Mohammed Kashashneh, the incumbent General Secretary of the Jordanian Ministry of Environment, who talks about the measures that producers are taking as part of responsibility for the entire lifecycle of their products.

In Amman’s Old City, electrically powered heavy goods vehicles funded by the BMUV are now collecting plastic waste. In this way, EXI is making an important contribution to the introduction of separated waste collection.
