Reducing atmospheric pollution in three Indian cities

People and the environment have suffered from heavily polluted air in Indian urban areas for many years now.The quality of life for people living in cities is heightened by better air quality. To tackle the problem of atmospheric pollution, the Indian government has introduced its ‘National Clean Air Programme’, which envisages reducing pollution from fine particulates by 20 to 30 percent by 2024. As part of the BMUV’s Export Initiative Environmental Protection, GIZ is helping to implement various aspects of this programme in the cities of Nagpur, Pune and Surat.

In the video, Surat Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani and Raghu Babu Nukala, GIZ’s local project manager, talk about the importance of tackling atmospheric pollution in India.
