An environmentally sound and innovative management of water resources is one of the key geopolitical tasks of the 21st century and at the same time an important economic task. The BLUE PLANET Berlin Water Dialogues, the professional policy forum on water and wastewater management, serve the goal of contributing to the solution of these tasks. Its diverse events provide an excellent platform with broad international impact to engage in conversation, discussion, and information about concrete solutions and approaches to the worldwide challenges of global water management. The German water industry participating in these events provides the know-how, qualifications and expertise for the technologies and services in demand.

In the long term, the BLUE PLANET Berlin Water Dialogues see themselves as the leading technical and political forum for the water industry in Germany. This is supported by the internationality of the participants from politics, non-governmental organizations, research and science as well as the participation of decision-makers from international water users from industry, energy and agriculture and the location Berlin as internationally recognized know-how location in the water sector.

The 2021 first-time virtual events "Smart Water For Resilient Cities" (Feb. 25, 2021) and "Water Reuse: Opportunities And Challenges" (Nov. 25, 2021) were well received, as reflected in the record number of participants: over 600 participants in the February event and over 400 participants in the November event from more than 40 countries.

The Advisory Board, which was established as an independent body to ensure the continuity of the event series, provided significant impetus in the identification of topics and the search for appropriate partners and research projects. In addition, it ensured the continuous involvement of experienced experts, especially from the research sector, in the strategic planning and implementation of the conferences. Furthermore the advisory board served to further open up the network, to involve further institutional partners and to approach speakers.
